Meet our Team

Tim Cartmell is building a team of doers — people who roll up their sleeves and get things done. Our candidates bring complementary skills and real-world experience that reflect the lives of Edmontonians. When you vote for one Better Edmonton candidate, you're not just electing one voice — you're unlocking the knowledge, networks, and shared values of an entire team.

Tim Cartmell for Mayor

Tim Cartmell has spent his life building things that matter — from major infrastructure projects that improve how we move around the city, to strong neighbourhoods where families can feel safe, supported, and heard.

A Professional Engineer, small business owner, and two-term City Councillor, Tim is known for his practical, no-nonsense approach to leadership. He carries an iron ring on his finger — a symbol of the obligation engineers have to serve the public with humility, integrity, and accountability.

Born and raised in Edmonton, Tim grew up in Dickensfield and Castledowns, while his wife Cathy grew up in Petrolia. Together they built a life here — camping in the summers, volunteering in their communities, and raising their three children. Edmonton wasn't just their hometown—it was their launchpad.

Tim brings a different perspective to politics — that practical, get-it-done mindset that focuses on results rather than rhetoric. As a small business owner, he's had to make tough calls — delaying his own pay so he could meet payroll for his team. He's had to prioritize needs over wants, just like every Edmontonian sitting around their kitchen table budgeting for groceries, mortgages, and daycare.
